I got a friend of mine to write up a few sports game reviews. They may not be as long as the others, but rest assured that this guy'll give it to you straight. The formatting isn't very good at the moment. I'll fix the setup later.
Triple Play 99: This is a good game with some definite improvements over last year's version. As always the updated rosters are quite accurate, with only a few guys on the wrong team. The only down fall I see is the diffuculty in controling the baserunners. This is a definite buy for Baseball fans.
NBA Live 98: A very good game if you like to score a lot. It is very easy to make your shots, so it makes for some exciting, high scoring games. In my opinion the game isn't very realistic as far as fouls and such, but it is a good basketball game.
PGA Tour 98: With the addition of extra courses and more game play modes, this is better than '97. I own both '97 and '98, and either one is a good buy for golf fans. Word also has it that Tiger Woods has signed a deal with EA Sports, so Tiger fans may be able to look for the next EA golf title to star everyone's favorite PGA rookie.
WCW Nitro: FLOP!!!! This game was hyped so much that I didn't hesitate to buy it. The game is advertised to have 60 some wrestlers, but with only 20 or so being real, I was very disappointed. The game isn't all bad; the run-in helpers from the back was a nice idea, but overall I was disappointed with this game.
John Madden Football 98: Once again John Madden and EA Sports have raised the level of football games of Playstation. With the addition of new plays in the playbook, Madden 98 is a definite winner in my opinion.
March Maddness: College basketball on PlayStastion at its best. My only complaint is that (and this isn't necessarly bad) is that it is very difficult. The shots don't always fall, and the computer is no push over.
Nagano Winter Olympics: This game is an excellent buy for the lover of the Winter Olympics. Almost all your favorite events are there, minus the figure skating. The graphics are awesome. In the time I have played this game I have only set one record (bobsled in case you were wondering), so this is a very challenging and entertaining game. It is a definite good buy.
NCAA Football 98: This football game is a definite winner. The play books on both sides of the ball are very detailed and fun to experiement with. The graphics/animation are a little shaky, but the game play makes up for it. This year we have the addition of the dynasty mode, which allows you to play a season with a team and then replace that year's seniors with new freshman players. This is a really nice feature and makes this game even better than it already was.
FIFA 98: Well, if you like soccer, you'll love FIFA 98. This game is by far the best soccer game I've ever played. The players are easy to control, and there are new game modes, with the typical World Cup Tourney, the International tournaments and others. It even allows for trading of players within your league.
